As summer is officially well underway, the marathon of books have begun also. I have been a very lucky girl and travelled around Sweden, Norway and Finland. I have also just returned from a lush holiday in France. So they have stacked up a bit, un-blogged... SO before I finish my year of blogging to start university, i'm going to cram them in!
This book was a perfect start to the summer reading purely because it is the BRAND NEW Nicholas Sparks novel. For those people who are uneducated and don't believe in miraculous love, Mr Sparks is one of the best romance novelist with 12 of his books being made into films (most famous being "The Notebook").
This book is a stunning love story, and the best part is the fact that its a true story!!!
'Every Breath' tells the story of 42 year-old, divorced man named Tru from Zimbabwe and 36 year-old trauma nurse, Hope, from North Carolina.
Tru is working in the bush back in Zimbabwe as a safari guide, when he receives a letter from a man claiming to be his father. The letter explains how he his dying and included was a plane tickets to North Carolina, USA so they can meet for the first time. So off Tru goes to find more about his Mother....
Meanwhile, Hope is once again on a break with her boyfriend Josh (who has been her boyfriend for 6 years). To get away from it all, she heads to her family cottage on the beach next door to where Tru’s father’s house is....
It is an incredible story of love, sacrifice and destiny; that love can come from anywhere and be full of surprises. Sparks even said in his prologue how meeting this couple in real life and hearing their story, has changed his view on love.
It is easy to go back and think “what if I’d done this differently?” or “what if I’d said that?” but those are pointless questions with unsatisfactory answers. So best to live in the present me thinks!
Nicholas Sparks: you have once again made me smile and brought a couples’ challenging love story to life, I thank you for finding their story and sharing it.
In terms of reading (and I mean, reading only), it has been the summer of love!
